Psychic Detective Yakumo Novels and Anime

Psychic Detective Yakumo is an 8 volume novel that was written by Manabu Kaminaga and first run in 2004.  Most times, Japanese culture fits well with being adapted into anime.  It has happened time and time
again with many novels and doesn’t show signs of slowing down soon, due to people’s fascination with Japanese Anime. It was made into a life action 13 episode series TV drama for Tokyo TV that aired from March to June of 2006.   In October of 2010 to December 2010 a TV anime series was released, that also had 13 episodes that caught the attention of its viewers and got positive and negative reviews.  People either loved it or they hated it, but ironically those who claimed to hate it, always seemed to know what happened in each episode.

The novel was made into two manga series.  For those who don’t know, manga is another name for Japanese comics.  These manga series ran as a two volume set in 2007 and 2008 and then again in 2009 as a 5 volume set.  This popular show was also made into a stage play which is another common occurrence with the anime series that is growing in popularity. Anime is popular for many things, its artwork being one of the most well known.  It’s colorful, sometimes psychedelically so, beautiful and almost dreamlike with characters that have a lot of emotion in their faces and voices.   Another popular draw to Japanese anime is the music that accompanies the shows. Sometimes it might just be a theme song at the beginning, other times there might be songs that play throughout.  Whichever it is, many people end up buying the sound tracks because of their beauty. Many people have expressed a desire for a second season, so if this anime does come back again, its followers will be ready and waiting for sure.
